Lot 2099 NEWTON ARMS MODEL 1916 RIFLE WITH A.O. NIEDNER
CUSTOM BARREL. Cal. 270 Win. S# 3480. Bbl. 25" tapered round. Top of barrel is stamped "A.O. NIEDNER". Left side of barrel has hand stamped "270" caliber marking. Ramp mounted bead front sight. Early El Paso marked Weaver 2.5 scope with standard crosshairs on Stith mounts. Front mount utilizes the rear sight barrel band. Takedown action is disassembled by rotating the floorplate. Features include: multiple front locking lugs, claw extractor, checkered round cocking piece & double set triggers that both face forward. Schnable tipped straight comb walnut stock w/ point pattern hand checkering & steel grip cap. LOP: 14 1/8" over a replacement Bishop's plastic buttplate. Stock has added sling swivels. CONDITION: barrel and action retain 50% fading blue showing light marks. Stock has heavily worn finish & checkering showing dents, scratches & marks. Small cracks & chips are found behind the trigger guard & top tang. The safety is not engaging properly. The bore shows some darkening in the grooves and retains strong rifling.
